Brent Burns was named to the 2017 NHL All Star team on Tuesday afternoon. This will be the third consecutive all star selection and forth overall for Burns. Also joining Burns from the San Jose Sharks is forward Joe Pavelski, goalie Martin Jones and head coach Pete DeBoer, who were selected to represent the Pacific Division.

Burns, leads all NHL defensemen in goals (15) and points (39). He also leads the NHL with 160 shots and is tops among all Sharks players in average time on ice (24:45) per game.

The 2017 All Star game will be played on January 29th in Los Angeles at the Staples Center. The format will be a three-game tournament, played in a 3-on-3 format, featuring teams representing each NHL division.
