The California National Guard honored Brent Burns for his continued support of the military. Burns received a special commendation from on of the guards generals as part of the recognition.
Burns works with Defending the Blue Line, which has a mission of ensuring that children of military members are given opportunities to participate in the game of hockey. They provide free equipment for military kids, hockey camps, special events, and financial assistance for registration fees and other costs associated with hockey.
It’s obviously a huge honor, getting to do this,” Burns said. “It’s just humbling that I get to meet those families, not only the people that serve, but the families that are left behind, and a lot of the stress and pressures are left on them, so it’s special.”
